[It lasts longer, again, and Rita makes a quiet sigh as it finishes. She's still not getting any significant readouts, and she needs to be able to stimulate the rune herself without requiring Tyr to control it.]

Still nothing...

[She glances back at him, expression still cold, as she states matter-of-factly-]

Anything more could be harmful, and I'm not about to risk losing that rune.

[ The painful tingling running through him still is enough to make him ignore her words. He doesn't want to open his eyes, but he doesn't want her to think he's passed out, either. He opens his eyes slightly and releases his reddened lip, but pointedly looks down at his knees. ]

Do you know anything about it...?

Not enough to start using it. That's the point of this, since there's no telling what would happen if I just took apart your hand.

[Although she takes a brief glance at him, her back otherwise remains to him. He's conscious and he's not being sick, so she can continue.]

I'll have to try a different approach now...

[There's perhaps the first hint of excitement in her voice, though her tone is still cold.]

[ He hopes so... Hearing her voice excited but with that same tone is...eerie. He's always liked her excitement, but it feels wrong now... ]

It's already reached its potential long before you got here...

[She scoffs again, hand on her hip, every action and word full of arrogance.]

[She sneers at him, then turns back to the blastia to make some adjustments. This time, the sensation the wire creates is more like an unpleasant tingling, like pins and needles.]

[ He holds his tongue from telling her she doesn't know the first thing about the rune. The...tingling isn't as bad as it could be. It makes him feel a little itchy and irritated, but he knows it could be worse. ]

[There's no satisfactory result in the blastia yet, so she increases the input, causing the tingling to become more of a light throbbing.]

[ Are they...vibrating or something? It just feels weird and unnatural, and almost like the tune is coming alive. He glances over to his hand - maybe not the beat idea - to see what's happening. Maybe it'll be easier if he watches it. ]

[There's a very faint vibration and a slight buzzing sound, though most of the sensations will be in his hand. Rita lets it go on for a little while before raising it again. The throbbing might start to get painful...]

[ He hates how it feels and that little sound. What exactly is she trying to do...? But the longer it goes on, it really does go from ticklish to too much. ]

[ Even without looking at him, he makes a pained gasp as she makes it stronger and tries to pull his hand back. It hurts... ]

[Good thing the belts are holding, she thinks absently. More importantly, she muses out loud-]

[ He keeps trying to move against the restraints to free himself even though he can't get far. The feeling... It's not like something he's experienced before, but he's suddenly aware of all the bones and nerves in his hand and the way it sits on the arm of the chair. ]

[She still has no response from the rune, though. It's not entirely surprising--she didn't expect it to be this easy to figure out what it would respond to. It just means she has to keep exploring different options.

She lets it go on a little longer, then finally deactivates the formula.]
