[ He sighs a little and keeps going. That's not the answer he wants... There's more he wants to know, though. ]

What do you mean, what happened? There's nothing wrong with my hands.

[Not that a blastia limb is all that common in her world, either...]

I didn't say that it was wrong. It's obviously not flesh, though.

Oh, this.

[She unconsciously flexes the artificial fingers, and her voice takes on an even smugger tone.]

The original was lost in an experiment and replaced. Of course, the early model was wholly inadequate, so I made vast improvements of my own.

[ He feels a shiver run though his spine as he imagines it and the sort of improvements this Rita would have made... ]

I see...

[ And he won't even ask what she did in case she tries to show him. ]

[She scoffs immediately.]

You just don't get it, do you? A blastia made by me is far superior to a regular limb.

[ And he just shrugs. ]

I didn't say otherwise. You must not be too confident if that's what you jump to first...

Really? Then you wouldn't object if I replaced a few of your parts.

[She isn't necessarily bluffing, either. It's not her priority, but she could always use a new guinea pig. Schwann's just about had it.]

[ That gets him to sneer at her: ] Use yourself.

[ He'll be happier not knowing about her experiments... ]

Now that would be a waste. Better I test them on something disposable.

[She sneers right back, cold and arrogant.]

[ His blood boils when he hears her say that, less because she called him disposable so much as he knows Rita would never think people can be used like that. And he knows what that fake version of her meant to Rita before.

But he doesn't say anything. He just clenches his hands into fists to fight the urge to punch her for coming back. ]

[It's an idea that Rita would normally find abhorrent, but today, it's practically her way of life. Using people as tools in her research--she doesn't have the slightest bit of remorse.

She figures she's shut him up for now, and the house is coming up ahead. She directs him with a simple, cold-]

Inside.

[ And he doesn't hesitate to open the door, just letting it swing open for both of them. ]

The basement?

[ Which is hopefully not as well stocked as the study upstairs since he doesn't think Rita's used it in a long time... ]

[She steps in and shuts it behind her, still keeping her eye on Tyr.]

The study.

[It's her own house; she doesn't feel as though she needs to hide him away...]

[ He feels his heart sink when she says that, and closing the door... She really isn't going to be careless. He suddenly wishes more people disturbed them when they're in the study together. ]

...Right.

[ And he walks stiffly over to the stairs to start climbing them, looking out for Riou and the others as they go. ]

[Her lips curl into a bit of a smirk. Maybe he's starting to be afraid now. Rita herself is looking forward to getting started as she climbs the stairs after him...]

[ He really wants to kick her down the stairs, but there's no guarantee that'll do anything other than anger her. If he's going to break her neck, he has to do it directly.

...But even knowing this isn't really Rita, the thought of wrapping his hands around her neck again is horrifying. They reach the top floor in due time, and without Estelle, the floor is vacant save the two of them. ]

[Although she doesn't believe he can possibly win against her, that doesn't make her too careless: she keeps a close eye on him, and as they arrive at the top of the stairs, she points sharply to a chair.]

Sit.

[She says it almost as though he were a disobedient pet.]

[ With everything she's done that day, he isn't surprised when she takes that tone with him. She's made it clear what she thinks of him.

He sneers back mockingly as he obeys. ] Yes, m'am.

[She doesn't bother wasting her breath for a reply. He'll be sorry soon enough, anyway.]

This place is a mess...

[She's a little tidier than usual. But despite her distaste, it's more important that she find something--there, some belts. That'll do temporarily.

She comes over, circling behind the chair.]

Stay.

[She makes to hold his right hand down to the arm of the chair so she can secure it there with a belt.]

[ Well, hearing her say that could almost make him laugh if he weren't feeling sick with anxiety. His eyes follow her around the room until she steps behind him.

And goes for his right hand. He resists the urge to yank his arm away. She's going to try to take it away from him? It rejected her the last time, so he hopes it rejects her again. This Rita can't even love; it wouldn't want her. ]

That's what you want?

[She pulls the belt strap tight around his wrist, winding and securing it to her satisfaction, before she even bothers to look at his face.]

What did you think I wanted with you? If it weren't for this, I would've just killed you. You're not worth the effort by yourself.

[She circles around to his other side now in order to tie up his left wrist.]

[ He tests the limits but he can barely shift his fingers. His blastia is digging into him... ]

It's going to reject you, so you should just kill me now.

[ He would kick her so hard if she wasn't behind him. ]

Hmph! I'm not killing you yet. If I have to use it through you, you'll have to stay alive.

[With his left wrist secure, she moves behind the chair again. This time, she brings another belt over his neck.]

[ Oh, she is not. Not this Rita. Her words go completely through him as he starts to panic. The chair shakes as he tries to lift his arms up to protect his neck. ]

I'm not going to bite you, so leave my neck alone!
