[ Oh, she is not. Not this Rita. Her words go completely through him as he starts to panic. The chair shakes as he tries to lift his arms up to protect his neck. ]

I'm not going to bite you, so leave my neck alone!

I told you to stay put!

[She suddenly pulls it tight against his neck in retaliation. It'll be easier if he can't move his head, either.]

Don't forget who's in charge here!

[ He gasps sharply and pulls his head back in an attempt to get the belt away. It's so close - it's so close to strangling him. He tries to calm down some, but his heart is racing now. ]

Loosen this up!

[Mercilessly, she cinches it tighter.]

Don't give me orders!

[ A quiet whimper escapes his throat as he tries to get further away from her. He won't beg, but his eyes are starting to sting... ]

Nngh...

[She holds it for a moment, then finally loosens it enough that he can breathe properly, so it's just a little snug.]

[ He takes a deep breath once it's loosened. It still feels tight to him... ]

[His compliance suits her perfectly, and she finishes tying his feet to the chair, stands, and nods with satisfaction.]

You won't be doing any more fighting back. Not that it would've helped you.

[She starts walking, slowly, circling around him as she thinks, and then she stops by his right hand.]

[ His eyes follow her as well as he can, but he looks almost defeated. He can cast as long as he can speak, but what good would that do? If she took the seal off his rune, he could easily kill her with a few words... When she stops by his hand, that's all he can think, but even with that clearly metal hand and torture, he knows she's Rita. ]

Just get it over with...

You don't even know what I'm doing.

[She doesn't know if he has any ability with blastia, and flippantly dismisses him. She's more interested in inspecting the blastia on his right hand, calling up the formula and scanning it quickly.]

Preventing life absorption...Hmm... Maybe reverse the formula, amplify...

[She's talking out loud to herself, making note of possible plans.]

[ Reverse, amplify... His stomach turns as he thinks of what that would mean for her if she actually did it. If its powers were amplified...he really could kill her easily. ]

[Naturally, if she were to implement such a formula, she'd copy the original to use as a counter on herself so that she wouldn't be affected. She has no plans to discuss the intricacies with Tyr, however.]

Then what's the risk in telling me?

[ Though he's unsure if he wants to know what she'll do... ]

Risk? Try waste of time.

[She scoffs and finished making notes in a notebook, before tapping her chin. Before fiddling around with the other blastia, she needs to connect the rune to another one.]

Hmm...A formula might not do it without proper analysis... Maybe direct contact.

[ He doesn't say anything in response to that and just keeps watching suspiciously. He doesn't like the sound of "direct contact". Is she going to make him use the rune...on someone? ]

[That just might be part of her plan later. For now, she starts rummaging through the mess of materials and tinkering for a little while, collecting tools and putting together some parts.

Eventually, she's assembled a small blastia core with several attached components and instruments, and she sets it on a table near Tyr. There's a couple thin wires hanging from the assembly, the ends sharp and needle-like, and she lifts one now and turns to Tyr.]

Direct contact to start... Let's see how it responds.

[ He doesn't like how this looks. He means her eyes as strongly as he can, but there's no mistaking that he's scared now. Direct contact to his wound with those wires... He's sure that's what she means. He's gone through worst before. He just needs to remember it. ]

Then?

Then I'll run some tests.

[Her voice continues to drip with contempt for him when she responds, and now she brings the wire to his hand--tugging off his glove, if he's wearing it--and moves to insert it just under the skin, at the edge of the rune.]

Mm.

[It's pointless to tell himself not to shake when she's taking that glove and putting the needle to his skin. He tries to regulate his breathing so he doesn't put himself in a worse position. It's just a needle; she's not ripping his skin off with it--though he wouldn't put it past her to try it. She doesn't even see him as human.]

Hmph. Finally starting to figure out you should be afraid?

[She snorts, and carefully sets the needle in place, securing it with a bit of tape.]

We'll start with one for now.

[Possibly more if necessary. Now she walks back to the blastia, making some adjustments to the formula.]

[He doesn't get his hopes up hoping that this'll be as bad as it gets.]

Yeah... I get it now.

[As much as he wants to berate her, her knows it'll only get him hurt. He watches her work on the blastia, though. If he knows what's coming, he can prepare.]

[She doesn't respond further, all her attention on the blastia. The core comes to life with a deep violet glow, and Rita stands there, impassive, observing for what could be a few minutes.]

...No feedback just like this, huh...

[Abruptly, she turns back to Tyr and lifts a second wire to place under his skin.]

[ He's hopeful, foolishly, when she stops to observe for those few minutes. He doesn't even have time to think before she inserts that second wire. ]

Ngh-

[ His fingers dig into the arm of the chair as the wire goes in. It feels so unnatural... It's not as painful as what she did earlier, but seeing the wires under his skin...it's sickening in another way. ]
